Keeping up with Grooming

Working at a groom shop you see many Grooming horrors.
Dogs with coats that don't shed MUST be combed not just brushed.
It should be everyday but if not at least every other.
Dogs who do not get combed can get very tight mats
to the skin which isn't comfortable for your dog.
Sometimes the mats can be so close on the ears that hematomas form.
This can be a medical emergency and is totally avoidable.
Another extremely important part of owning a dog is
cutting your dogs nails. This must be done once a month.
If you have a very active dog like a Lab, who gets out for walks
your dogs nails are probably ground to the quick. The dew claw
which is located on the side will not be ground down so chances
are you still need to cut your pups dew claw! If you don't feel
comfortable or your dog is troublesome, take them to a
groom shop. Petsmart cuts nails for 11 dollars, even safer grind
it for 13. Grinding is a much safer way and your dog will usually
be more excepting, grinding depending on your dog is easy
to do at home. If you have a shedding dog don't skimp on
brushing, many dogs have a lot of undercoat like huskys
and they need a good brush out too! Groom you dog to keep
them healthy!

The Australian Shepherd

The Australian Shepherd is a beautiful dog.
Bright eyes, and a bright personality.
These dogs love to herd and be active,
swimming being just one of there many boisterous activities.
A fact that those who are interested in Aussies should know
is that if they are born with a merle coat, and a double merle
gene they are often deaf and even sometimes blind.
Deaf dogs are just as capable as hearing dogs, they
can learn by hand commands, it takes a loving home
and a ready family to handle.

The Most Beautiful Dog in the World

Calvin and Blake
I have always been a large breed dog fan, having Shepherds and labs as a
young child. When I was first given my dog Calvin from Lianne Hassen
of Sit Means Sit dog training, I wasn't really excited to have a little dog.
Not to mention a mixed breed, Calvin being a Maltipoo. As time went
on our bond grew and I've never loved a dog as much as him. He was
trained by Lianne himself, and is a big dog in a little dogs body.
He's an expert at obedience and is a great trick dog aswell.
He learns extremely fast, I taught him to crawl in 20 minutes and
to roll over in a half an hour! He's a great little dog, he's my big little guy.

The Shih Tzu

Shih Tzus are from what I can tell the most common family dog.
Personally I think they are the ugliest dogs. They have bulging gross
eyes and a flat face. There are dogs that can get away with being
so ugly they are cute like Pekingese’s and even some pug crosses,
Shih Tzus are not in the so ugly they are cute category.
Shih mixes can be cute, like my fathers cute shorkie Teddi, but
Then again Teddi is still a puppy so his looks can go either way.
Basically I’m not a fan of the Shih Tzu.

The Multi-talented German Shepherd

The king of the dog world in my opinion is for sure the German Shepherd.
They are the most adaptive intelligent dogs that I can think of.
With abilities ranging from police dogs to sheep herders.
They're eager learners and loyal companions, I love them.

A Beautiful mixed breed

Normally I am all for the pure breds.
Rotties, Maltese and Goldens being my favourites.
I have met an beautiful exception, A black lab great dane cross.
These dogs are gorgeous!
There coats shine and they arn't as hyper as pure labs.
All together they are a wonderful mix.
